My Fair Lady at Mariinsky

My Fair Lady will prima at April 4th at Mariinsky Theatre on the evening of April 4th at 8 P.M. St. Petersburg time for a run of 7 performances. This is the 2010 Théâtre du Châtelet production which marked the works premiere at this Paris theatre as it will for Mariinsky. COMMANDOpera notes the Mariinsky employs a large roster of house artists which underlines the reality as to why no casting has been announced other than Mr. Gavriel Heine on the podium at this late date. One suspects there is a great deal of jockeying between leading artists (and their various supporters) as to whom will essay the leading roles of this premiere work.
