In Vancouver?

I was aware the Vancouver Opera (which I may attend now that my ex no longer lives in the city… sure as the sun rises I would run into this woman whenever I was there unannounced) would be mounting this production of Norma. Predominately because Sir Richard Bonynge was gracing the podium. Well…. The Vancouver Opera just sent me the press kit for the performance. Guess who else is there…..  RICHARD MARGISON as Pollione. HELLO!!  Add to that Armenian soprano HASMIK PAPIAN who sings all over the globe to insanely excellent reviews as Norma and you could die a happy man. Oh… but wait. Adalgisa? KATE ALDRICH!!!!

There is this tiny rule that has been in place since the sixties regarding hiring practices at most theaters. You hire one star per production. ONE. Who runs this theatre? Is there an Olympics going on?

This is what anyone who attends this performance will be in for:

Maestro Bonynge

Miss Papian

Mr. Margison

Miss Aldrich

I wish to inform the powers that be at the Vancouver Opera, I expect to be seated at the prima so that I may live blog the performance.
