This post represents the only biographical information I intend to supply…..
Long LONG ago while in Grade 8, I used to stay up on week-ends to catch the late LATE movie (being last in the pecking order of a rather large family left about zero private time for a 13 year old). This clip mesmerised me, and I was hooked.
I found this smart little number a while ago, and suffice to say while it certainly has value to myself personally, Miss West’s only contribution to opera is best left within the corridor of history.
Since that night, I began an affair with opera that has spanned close to 40 years. I’ve attended virtually all the important houses around the globe, and further made a point to debut in others which I considered worthy and sufficiently important. A private collection of recordings, libretti, and other paraphernalia spans an entire floor of my manor house. I was there when fist fights would break out among the loggionisti. I witnessed the most important exponents of the period strut their stuff, and I am acquainted with a good number of them personally. My professional existence permitted the means and luxury of time to capably indulge this pastime. Of no consequence but for those who need to know, I retired a few years back at the handy age of 47. I pass the days bodybuilding utilising my in house gym as I have for a number of years, incorporating a great deal of cardio to equalise the visual. Decadent restaurants are the social order of the day while I continue to chill with the finest where ever I may be.
The opera blog is intended for anyone who wants to find out whats current, whats historic, whose in, who is not….and naturally, ONLY as done by the hand of CrewMantle.
Just what brought me here?
